light.

 

attracts

deer, sailboats,

eyes.

 

surrenders

clouds, ripples,

reflections.

 

contains

supple fish.

 

 

2. The Island

 

wears

a mountain, a spring,

a reef.

 

repels

hurricanes, castaways,

tides.

 

surmounts

the rift,

the sea,

the horizon.

 

sheds

rain.
